A Profile......
I have worked as a person centred counsellor in private practice for over seventeen years and have also undergone a four year training in Transactional Analysis. I gained my BACP Accreditation in 1997, and in 2004 gained Senior Registered Practitioner status as having been an accredited counsellor for over seven years. I am a Transactional Analysis Psychotherapist and a UKCP Registered Practitioner. I have worked for outside agencies such as Social Services and Mental Health and since 1994 have been employed as a freelance counsellor for over a dozen employee assistance providers, such as AXA-ICAS, BUPA and PPC . I have provided therapy to clients who have experienced personal difficulties which may have affected their working performances.

Over the last fourteen years I have co-tutored and taught on Diploma in Counselling courses and have tutored on Counselling Skills training courses at Further Education Colleges. I have taught on the Counselling Skills module which is part of the Diploma in Counselling course at the University of Kent at Canterbury and am currently teaching the module in Transactional Analysis as part of the Certificate Course.

It was out of a colleague's and my own experiences as Counselling tutors that we thought of providing an updated video which demonstrated the Person Centred approach to Counselling. Details of this can be seen here.

HOW I WORK
Using TA and the Person Centred approach I aim to:-

create a safe environment for my clients by negotiating clear contracts and boundaries and conveying my respect for their worth and individuality.
communicate that I am trying to perceive their world as they see it, and to sensitively bring to their attention what they may be unaware of within the boundaries of what we have agreed.
