What is Person Centred Counselling?

Sue trained at Metanoia and qualified as a Person Centred Counsellor in 1993,

Person Centred Counselling was developed by Carl Rogers who believed that the individual was a competent architect of his own destiny, was innately able to deal with whatever he experienced and possessed the ability to heal himself. This belief in the strength and integrity of human beings is fundamental to person centred counselling.

The emphasis of person centred counselling is placed upon the relationship between the counsellor and client and on the changes that may take place within the client when the counsellor creates a climate of empathy, genuineness and acceptance.
